In a recent interview with Reuters, Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, revealed that Canada is preparing a “suite of measures” aimed at further managing and potentially limiting the levels of non-permanent residents in the country, particularly those on study or work permits.
Miller indicated that upcoming changes could specifically target Post-Graduation Work Permits (PGWPs) and enforcement practices. He emphasized that Canada is moving away from the era of “uncapped programs,” signaling a significant shift in immigration policy.
“The era of uncapped programs to come into this country is quickly coming to an end. This is a big shift….” Miller stated during the interview.
Further details on these measures are expected as Canada continues to adjust its immigration policies in response to changing economic and social needs.
